THE SIEGE OF LENINGRAD
MARCH 1st, 2008
ADVENTURE BEACH PAINTBALL
During WWII, the Siege of Leningrad, also known as The Leningrad Blockade, was one of the longest and bloodiest sieges of a city in modern history. The German plan was coded as Operation Nordlicht (Operation North Light). The siege lasted from September 8, 1941, until it was lifted on January 27, 1944.
Fires would continue all over the city for nearly 2 years as the Germans dropped over 250 thousand shells and bombs during 1941 and 1942.

Well it was a great day of paintball. The weather was perfect and the field was dry. Scored a Sportsmanship Award this go around. Which came with $75.00 cash prize. As I arrived I spoke to Kevin and joined the Soviet Side which needed the most help. I ended up running with some really good players and a Birthday group.
First mission up I created this video.
www.portcitymilitia.150m.com/adventure.wmv
On another mission we had to recover an ammo crate. Intel said its between the Comm Bunker and Bunker Hill. At this time we controlled the Comm Bunker but we are cut off from Bunker Hill. We end up calling in an artillery strike to clear a path. However the enemy was listening to our comm traffic and completely pulled out. So by the time the 2 minute mark hit and the artillery struck the enemy had completely repositioned themselves to the fuel depot. So we pushed to Bunker Hill and cleared the area and begin our search when we received Intel that the plane had missed its drop point and that the ammo box was seen between the fuel depot and the comm bunker.
We head to the depot from the Bunker Hill. As we approach the road I can tell the enemy is entrenched in several locations around the Fuel depot. The fire fight begins. Three of the kids from the birthday party and I push onto the road and take cover. We start exchanging paint for a bit and we take one of them out of the depot. I get the three with me to suppress and as they start to do so I charge forward.
Knocked one out while I was in the open pushing forward and once I got into the depot it was all over in 3 shots. I made a quick scan of the area and turned toward the comm bunker where I saw three enemy facing the wrong way. Turns out the Soviets had pushed a bit out of the Comm Bunker so the defending German players were experiencing tunnel vision.
After they fell, sure enough not 100 feet from where I stood was the ammo box covered in leaves and branches. We recovered the box and dragged it through the woods and into the town and as we approached our base I knew something was wrong.
Our spool where we chroned each time we entered the field during play had people there with the wrong color tape... Our base had been over run but not blown as far as I could tell. We walked straight through the middle of the town towards our spool. The enemy was laying down looking to the right to some unknown threat. He didn't see us walk up on him so I dropped the ammo crate maybe 150 feet out and we exchanged fire briefly. After we clear the town we return the ammo box to our base.
This mission lasted forever and was a mission that took me all over the field to get. It was a lot of fun and I wanted to share it with everyone. Let me know what you think.
